A plane carrying 179 people narrowly avoids disaster at Lahore International Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority has established an investigation into the case.

LAHORE: An Airbus 320 carrying 172 people almost avoided a disaster at Allama Iqbal Airport on Wednesday when the pilot attempted to land on the wrong runway but was promptly warned, saving valuable lives.

According to Geo News, the control tower notified a flight from Kyrgyzstan as the captain was going to land at the Lahore airport's runway 18-L, which has been closed for the previous two years.

According to the sources, "the foreign pilot of flight 4541 took a circle in the air and landed at runway 36-L upon indication."

The Civil Aviation Authority has opened an inquiry into the incident.

There were 171 passengers on board, as well as eight crew members.
