PTI leaders were granted bail in Islamabad following the Azadi March violence. The police had secured around 11 PTI heads in a case pertaining to violence at the Kohsar police station.

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court granted interim pre-arrest bail to senior PTI leaders on Monday in a case involving vandalism during the party's recent long march toward Islamabad.

The police had arrested 11 PTI leaders in a case involving violence at the Kohsar police station, and the court had reserved its decision. A decision on the same station's case no. 425 has been postponed.

Former planning minister Asad Umar, ex-National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Khan Suri, Senator Faisal Javed, former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed, ex-defense minister Pervez Khatak, PTI Vice-President Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shehryar Afridi, Ali Mohammad Khan, Sheraz Basharat, Raja Khurram Nawaz, and Murad Saeed are among those granted bail.

The judge asked about the investigation into the cases registered at Tarnol, Golra, and I-9 police stations during the hearing. The judge ordered that all suspects cooperate with the investigation.

Today's court appearances included Qasim Khan Suri, Shehryar Afridi, Ali Muhammad Khan, Asad Umar, and Faisal Javed.


'Will keep protesting'

Umar told journalists outside the court that the party would continue to protest until the people received relief.

"The government is currently providing relief to itself," he added, "and there is no doubt that the coalition government has come into power for NRO-II."

PTI leaders are also granted bail until June 28 by the ATC

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted interim bail to more than a dozen PTI leaders for vandalism last week.

Police had arrested 14 PTI leaders in a case involving violence at Lahore's Bhatti Gate police station and later amended the first information report to include Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) (FIR).

Former energy minister Hammad Azhar, PTI Central Punjab President Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Cheema, Murad Raas, and Andleeb Abbas are among the PTI leaders granted pre-arrest bail.
